Provide initial support to the patient/family and to providers involved in her careEnsure that the patients family is provided support and that the providers involved in her care are also provided support from the organization. It is very important to understand what support looks like from the organization for patients and families it may be identifying a clear contact person who will be responsible for answering questions an keeping lines of communication open. It may extend to offering counselling support and even to covering some outofpocket expenses that the patient / family incur as a result of the patient being harmed. Support for healthcare providers may involve connecting them with counselling through employee assistant programs, peer support, timeoff etc. |
