Background Information

Rehman is a 33-year-old middle eastern man. He, his wife Inaya, and two-year-old son Asim fled their home in Kabul, Afghanistan, six months ago due to the country's civil war with Taliban forces. Rehman's parents and brother were unable to flee the country and are still back home. Rehman's family has been supported as Government Assisted Refugees, and they live in a basement suite in Northeast Calgary. Rehman and his family are practicing Muslims. Rehman is his family's sole source of income, and he works full-time at a liquor store. One month after arriving in Canada, Rehman visited the Mosaic Refugee Health Clinic regarding his abdominal pain that started after he left Afghanistan. The physician ordered blood work, urine cultures, urinalysis, an abdominal ultrasound, and a FIT test for Rehman and instructed him to come back in two weeks to evaluate and go over the results. Rehman completed most of the clinic and the community tests on the same day, except for the blood work. Rehman did not return for a follow-up appointment.
