OA CasePatient history I.D.: 63-year-old female referred for (L) knee OA.
HPI: Began experiencing (L) knee (P) approximately 2 years ago. Consulted her family physician at that point in time and had x-rays taken revealing OA of the (L) knee. Symptoms were well managed with Naprosyn for about 1 year at which point both the frequency and intensity of the (P) have increased. Symptoms have increased significantly over the past month, resulting in a limp and necessitating a return visit to the family physician. She has been advised to continue with the Naprosyn and has been referred to physiotherapy and orthopaedics.
PMHx: (L) partial medial meniscectomy (1983) – meniscal tear secondary to fall skiing.
Meds: Naprosyn
Diagnostic Testing: X-ray (L) knee (2014): moderate medial compartment OA with minimal lateral compartment OA. Marginal osteophytes.
SoHx: Works as a high school teacher. Enjoys walking, cycling and skiing.
Treatment Goal: Resolution of pain so that can return to nightly walks and skiing. |
