IntroductionWelcome to today’s scenario. We will be using a virtual patient to explore sepsis issues using assessment and treatment. The case will work best for you if you treat this virtual patient as you would a real patient. The questions in this scenario will help you prioritize your assessment and interventions with patients. In additon, we have included Turk Talk which is a live text-based chat with a facilitator, so you can practice your communication skills when giving report to member of an interdisciplinary team. When the facilitator is satisfied with your responses, you will be allowed to move onwards in the case. At each Turk Talk section, there is a Bypass link - this allows you to completely bypass the Turk Talk interaction. It is mostly for when a facilitator is not available. Remember that if you Bypass the Turk Talk you will not get credit for that section. By the end of this scenario, learners will be able to: ▪ describe the signs and symptoms of an infant with septic shock ▪ demonstrate the management of circulatory failure due to sepsis ▪ recognize the need to intubate a septic child with altered LOC Have fun with the case! |
