After-care

After the wound is closed, some simple steps help healing:

  • Treat the wound like a cheap watch. It is splash proof but not waterproof.
  • Avoid hot tubs and lakes until the sutures are out.
  • Use Polysporin on the wound 2-4x/day.
  • Excess tugging can still pull the wound open, especially in the 2-3 days after sutures come out.
  • Don't leave sutures in too long.
    • Face & neck remove on day 4 or 5
    • Most areas remove on day 7 to 10
    • On thick tough back skin may need to leave 14 days.
