ePortfolio Development and Integration

The Royal College is cognizant that several medical schools currently use ePortfolios or comparable tracking systems within their residency training programs. We understand that new tools/resources must integrate as seamlessly as possible with existing systems.

In December 2013, the ePortfolio Advisory Committee, composed of knowledgeable individuals from medical schools and communities across the country, met for the first time to review the scope and vision of the ePortfolio. As part of their mandate, the committee will support efforts to promote data integration between existing tools and Royal College’s ePortfolio (the updated version of MAINPORT) – accommodating medical schools who wish to continue using their own mechanisms. The committee will also work with Canada’s medical schools to develop data transfer standards to ensure comprehensive and reliable information.
