Oropharyngeal Tube

An oropharyngeal airway (airway tube) is a simple medical device used to maintain or open a patient´s airway.

It is commonly used in emergency medicine and for short term airway management in sedated or unconscious patients to maintain an open airways.

Insertion of an oropharyngeal airway may not be feasible in some settings, such as oral trauma or trismus (restriction of mouth opening including spasm of muscles of mastication).
