Introduction

In this scenario, learners will care for an adult who has expereinced a traumatic event. Learners will use their assessment skills to gather pertinent data and provide safe, comprehensive patient care and identify connections between the patient's presenting problem and the underlying pathophysiology. Learners will also consider how nurses and phsyicians need to work together to gather important assessment data.

By the end of this scenario, learners will be able to:

• Identify the types of assessment data that would be collected for a comprehensive assessment. 
• Address the safety needs of the patient with sensitivity and compassion.
• Anaylze and synthesize assessment data to promote quality patient care.
• Reflect on personal emotions when working with patients who have experienced traumatic events.
