Where to cut the threads

You are the nervous assistant to the classic impetuous surgeon.

How long do you cut the suture threads?

Well, of course, it will always be too long or too short. Cruelty to clinical learners!

Various lengths are advocated, usually something in the range of 6-10mm.

But often the easiest way to gauge this is to cut them the same length as the spacing between sutures. This way, loose ends are not likely to be caught in adjacent knots.
